Hi there ,

I have windows vista on my toshiba laptop, I have got a bludy zlob trojan virus and I have looked at the other posts here and tried various tools to get rid of it, I used avg free trial, superspy thing and most of the other reccomended things. I tried following some manual removal instructions but none of the files showed up when I looked, I did a system restore but I keep getting this message poping up all the time that says error you have a zlob trojan click here to download the removal software. this always happens in internet explorer.
If I re install windows vista will it get rid of it?
Any advice please

Try using Spybot S&D click here
or Spyware Terminator click here in `Safe Mode`, or you could try one of the online scans.

Run all the spyware tools in Safe Mode and dont forget to turn off system restore first. You can do an online virus check at Kaspersky click here which can also run in Safe Mode if you select with Networking at boot time.

I have done the suggested things,
one question is, what is the perpose of running the scans in safe mode?
thanks

In Safe Mode only vital Windows components start. A lot of nasties can not be deleted or even detected whist they are running. Safe Mode prevents them from starting up.

Just a note of caution here and hopefully it has been done yet !!

Do not disable System Restore unless advised by the experts !

An infected restore point is better than no restore point. This will at least give you possible options if needed.

Best to follow Brundle's advice and let the experts deal with this.
They will get you clean, please be paitent.
