Has anyone actually used XXCLONE to make a bootable mirror image on a slave HD? Any snags?

Yes, I used it some time ago, and it worked fine.

Now, however, I bought and use Acronis True Image, which is much more flexible and has many other features. I no longer do cloning - I prefer to make compressed images, which means I can backup my 160GB drive (not full) with 2 NTFS partitions, and a Linux partition, all onto a 40GB drive.

Thank you DieSse.

I agree with DieSse, acronis is time-saving as well and the facility to boot up from an acronis recovery cd helps if your systen is kn*ck**ed

Thanks terryf. I've been given a Hitachi Deskstar HD so I contacted Hitachi to see if they offered a utility to clone with but they don't have one & suggested Norton Ghost. I'll give the Acronis utility a try.
