i have orig xp sp2 disc if i replace m/board,cpu and grafic card.will i be able to re-instate xp or do i have buy a new copy?
No, but you may have to call MS to validate it. But XP normally allows a couple of changes to hardware before interfering
There seems to be a new validation service - very easy - you just enter your e-mail address and basic details - much simpler than the old system of entering a long list of numbers/letters. Top marks to Microsoft.
As XP doesn't always "take" to a new motherboard, once your motherboard, CPU and graphics card have been installed, you should immeidately undertake an XP Repair. How to do so is detailed at:click here(to save me typing it all out)You may/will need to have your Product Key details handy and also reinstall all the SP3 updates afterwards; this can be done with AutoPatcher:click here
