XPInfo - how does it run?

  johndrew 15:57 06 Jan 2006

I found a letter in Issue 101 of PC Advisor (page 188) where the writer did not understand the OEM licence (a bit like me) and was refered to XPInfo (click here) for clarification and a free utility which shows which elements of the PC were used in generating the wpa code and which had been changed since activation.

I have made some changes to my PC but I have no idea how close I am to requiring a new activation code. This utility seems ideal but when I download it I can`t get it to run, all I get after unzipping it is a flash on the screen.

I looked at the site which indicates that registration is necessary but the registration page comes up blank.

Anyone out there who can tell me (in simple terms please) what I`m doing wrong or how to get the utility to run?

Your link directs me to a site for credit cards, that opens up loads of pop-up. Can you check your link please?

click here seems to be the correct link - off to have a play!

You just have to click on 'XPInfo executable, release 2003-07-31 (zipped, 22.4 kb)' to download it. No registration is required.

Well I never!! I downloaded the same file yesterday and it didn`t unpack and work for some reason. In fact it still doesn`t. However the new one does so all is well.

Thanks for your help.

P.S. It seems my wpa is not based on any hd set up so I haven`t used any `lives`!!
