XP2100+ vs XP2800+

I have had an XP2100+ CPU for around 12 months now and do a lot of video editing. I'd like to put in a XP2800/3000 chip now but can't really find any good comparitive benchmarks for these two chips. Does anyone know of such a review?
I subscribe to the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it (unless there's performance to be had)' philosophy and therefore need to see good anticipated results before buying.

you can get a crude comparison by downloading sisoft sandra from click here and anylising your cpu (arithmetic benchmark) and selecting from the dropdown the cpu you wish to compare yours with. hope this helps.

First of all can your motherboard take a 2800/3000?

If yes then i would say you would see an improvement. But how much of an improvement i really do not know.

The 2800/3000 are of the Barton cores so they have an extra 256KB of cache. This alone would improve things over the 2100. Also they run faster and the FSB is increased by 33MHz.

I would say you look here click here and other parts of the site for benchmarks.

But i would say you would see an improvemnt.

Never thought of that!
Talk about forgetting the obvious :)

25% improvement with a 2800 so looks like that's a goer :)

If you're just looking for a fast chip, then consider the two you have mentioned. But if you want better value for money, then I would suggest the XP2500+ barton.
