The computer runs XP Pro and is set to do a scandisk at startup. But everytime it gets to the scandisk - even if I cancel it, the computer restarts. Afetr it has restarted it goes through the same procedure. I have tried using the system restore disk but that dosen't work either. Any help appreciated.

Can you start in safe mode?

If so, will it might bypass the scan at startup, and then you will hopefully be able to disable the startup scan, till you find how to let it scan successfully.
