XP bombs blue screens on startup. Have reinstalled to a different partition and the original installation disk is not recognised - RAW. I am looking for a utility (free?)to repair the original partition. An
yone assist?

Just use the repair option on the disk.

Best suggestion re format and do a clean install.

You can repair both or either partion. Insert the XP CD reboot then press enter to boot from CD. Follow the on screen instructions to do a full installation but after the 3rd screen you will be asked if you want to repair and it will show both installations high light the one you want then again follow the on screen instructions.

Once you are back into Windows and everything is ok delete or repeat the repair action for the other windows installation..

Remember do not use the repair function on the first screen use the second one on the third or forth screen of the installation process..
