XP System Restore and Recycle Bin.. New HDD

  JimButler 12:29 05 Feb 2004

Having recently added a new hard drive apparently
successfully I have 2 issues remaining.
1) XP System Restore believes the old drive ( now
designated F: ) to be the System disk.
How do I get this feature to recognise the new
C: as the System Disk ?

2) Recycle bin corrupted messages.
The props for Bin show C: + F: drives.
How do I repair ?

Thanks in anticipation. This forum has helped me
in the past with tech issues.

I have solved issue with Restore simply by renaming F: Drive to "Old Disk".
It was called "Local Disk" which obv. fooled XP
Restore into believing this was System Volume.
Still have issue with Recycle Bin tho.
Anyone know how to remove ALL bins ( C: + F: )
and let OS recreate ?

For all interested parties I resolved issue with
Recycle Bin by taking an educated risk.
I renamed system RECYCLER folder to RECYCLER_old
and rebooted into OS. System re-created RECYCLER
and is now OK for all users.
NOTE - re original prob. It was the other
accounts on my PC ( wife + kids ) who experienced "Corrupt Bin" message and No Deleted items visible in Bin.
