XP System Restore Points Problem

Using the option to free up more disk space, I removed all but the most recent sysytem restore point. The problem now is XP is not automatically creating a restore point. I have tried turning off the restore option and rebooting, turning it on again, but this hasn't worked.

If you haven't inadvertently turned off System Restore, try temporarily installing a small program or utility; System Restore will create a Restore point first and you can then uninstall the program.

An easier way to get back some disk space would have been to reduce System Restore's space requirements. By default 12 per cent of capacity is reserved for System Restore, a figure established when hard drives' capacities were very much smaller than today.

By reducing this percentage from SR's settings to two, three, four, five or whatever per cent you can win back space; it requires at least 200MB but somewhat more than this figure is better.

Or create a restore point yourself from the panel - name it something that makes it clear when it was created.
