I have installed XP pro onto my PC and it’s working fine except for when I go on the Internet. I dial up and everything works fine, then after a few minutes I get the following message:

System shutdown initiated by NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM.
Windows must restart because the (RPC) remote procedure call service terminated unexpectedly.

My system then automatically logs me off and reboots.

It’s happened every time, help!!!

Definitely Blaster. click here for a removal tool.

Turn off System Restore before running the fix. and then re-enable it.

The go to Windows update and get the patch or you will get it again.
In fact get all the critical updates.

Remember to install the XP security patch BEFORE you run the removal tool. You will then find that the problem has already cleared up - the virus will still be there but cannot impact - and you can then remove the virus at your leisure.

NB I understand that if you attempt to run the removal tool without first installing the security patch, it will claim that it has worked, but it won't and your problem will still be there.

Or perhaps XP is trying to tell you something..:-)

The people who create viruses etc really ought to use their undoubted talents in a more acceptable and beneficial way.

Thanks to everyone for their help, i used the stinger and it found the lovsan worm and another type of W32 virus. Have applied the patch also and it seems to have sorted it.

Thanks,

Paul.
