Hi all, when I start my laptop I get a window appearing headed XP Setup. The message says

Please go to the Control Panel to install and configure system components

That's it, no clues as to which components just an OK button. The laptop seems to work fine but it's a nuisance. Any ideas

Try going to the control panel go to the system icon, select the hardware tab, click the device manager button then right click on the very first icon and select scan for hardware changes.

This will look to see if there is any hardware without drivers etc.

Thanks, but no, that's not it.

Ok, I found the culprit by using Mike Lin's excellent Startup Control Panel. I had a program running called Reboot_check in

C:\WINDOWS\System32\Setup.exe.

I have disabled it for now and the popup no longer occurs when I reboot. Does anybody have any knowledge of this program?

This page is a goggle search for Reboot_check and came back with 135 matchs
