XP Reregister

  tooter 22:57 01 Jul 2006

I am giving my PC to my niece which has XP Pro installed, will there be problems with the registration of XP when she starts to use it? Does she have to reregister it in her name or can she leave it registered in my name? Thanks for any advice.

Just keep it running.
What MS don't know wont hurt them.

Give her the product key, if she ever has to reinstall she can then use it.

I've had XP for three years and never had to reinstall

As long as it's a legit copy of XP it can be transferred.... doesn't need to anything really.

So that she can personalise the machine as hers, use that exe from dougknox and she can change the name under registered owner and change the user accounts via control panel to hers.

Don't confuse "activation" with "registration".

There is no obligation to register Windows so moving ownership of a legitimate Windows computer from one person to another presents no problems.
