XP Reinstall - USB Mouse not working

ASUS laptop with XP Pro. Total crash, so fresh install from recovery partition. All updates downloaded. All works except a USB mouse (tried3). Plug it in. Device manager changes to show 2 Human Interface Devices (where there were none) – one with an exclamation mark and ‘unknown device’, and the other as working normally. Mouse doesn’t work and try to install the one with the yellow mark says ‘cannot install. An error occurred. The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hard ware vendor’. The USB ports work for other hardware. Do the same thing on my netbook, only one device shows and installs by itself. Any ideas, please?

Sorted - download a software package from the Logitech site and all now working normally.
