If I go to control panel system then click tab system restore I get an an exception error for rundll

An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysdm.cpl",System"

Is this due to a corrupt system file?

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, switch to Classic View and
double-click Folder
Options.

2. Under the View tab, click to check "Show hidden files and folders", and
uncheck
"Hide protected operating system files", click Ok.

3. Launch Explorer or double-click My Computer, locate to C:\Windows\inf,
right-click on SR (SR.inf) and select install.

4. If the system requests the XP CD, please insert the CD into CD-ROM and
finish
the installation according to the instructions.

I did this and it requested sp2 so I did that and completed.

Now I am in a worse situation as when I go to control panel and click system I get nothing happening, so I cannot even get to the tabs that I was able to get to before.

Any Idea what i have to do now?

No worries got it soted now, My sp2 disks file did not do the trick however I had another disk with the file that I was able to use and this has now gotten everything working.

Thanks for the heads up on the use of the inf install.

I had a slipstreamed disk which I was able to use for the files required.
