XP Pro repair problem

I am trying to do an XP Pro repair. I have booted from the CD, but the installation seems to be stuck on the blue Windows Setup (Setup is starting Windows). It has been "stuck" on this page for over an hour.
Any ideas on how to complete the repair?

See:

It's important, after choosing Installation in the initial stages, to select Repair and NOT Recovery Console.

Looks as if it is having trouble reading the CD.

Clean the CD and the drive before retrying.

I have cleaned the lens on both my CD/DVD drives, and cleaned the Windows disc. I still cannot even get to the Welcome page. It stops on the blue "Setup is starting Windows" screen, and goes no further. There is no text at all in the body of the screen, just "Windows Setup" in the top left corner.
Any Ideas?

I have uninstalled my anti virus, malware applications etc, but still cannot get past the blue "Setup is starting Windows" screen.
Is there another way to initiate a repair, that does not involve risking data?

SATA drive? F6 to install driver at first screen.

Agree with Ditch as this usually occurs when Windows set up cannot identify a disk or one of the disks is corrupt. Make sure that no USB disks etc are attached also.

Try F8 at start and choose last known good configuration
