i have recently upgraded from win98 se to win xp pro. When i shutdown under win 98 it would turn computer off automatically but now it says "it is now safe to turn off your computer" & i have to push power button on tower to turn off.
Any help greatly appreciated thanks in advance!

Quite common in older 98 machines that are not ACPI compliant but utilize
the older APM standard. Open Control Panel Power Options. If there is an
APM tab, click on it and mark the change to enable APM.
