I am about to upgrade to an AMD64 3500+.

Is there any advantage using MS XP Pro 64 version or should I stick with XP Pro. Money isnt an issue here.

Since you won't yet have any 64-bit apps; very little.

So Ive heard theres still not too many drivers about for stuff for the x64 version of windows so if I was you Id stick with XP Pro for the time being until Vista comes along and upgrade to a 64bit OS then as support for hardware should be alot better.

Thanks for your advice.

Looks like I will wait.

Fred,

I know you say money no issue but if you want to play with X64, Microsoft will send you 180 day trial free. You could dual boot and keep existing XP Pro.

Put another hard drive in,say a low cost 40GB,and try a free Linux 64bit OS.Worth a try.Theres probably the same support for 64bit Linux as Windows64
