XP-logon screen

  [email protected] 16:34 18 Aug 2009

I've just finished doing some "housework" on a PC, and I seem to have lost usual log-on screen.
I refer to the screen which displays the user a/c icon on which you click to continue.
In it's place I have a window which defaults to Administrator.
Is this appearance in Themes somewhere?
Help, it's little girls PC and I know she likes to click her favourite picture ;-)

Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way users log on or off > Tick Use the Welcome Screen.

Have a look in control panel>user accounts>manage other user accounts

Is it listed or have you deleted it????

OK, following VoG™'s advice (thanks again VoG™ ;-),
Windows has told me that a recently installed program has deactivated the way users log on, and gave me a file reference to help me identify it!
The ref is: MrvGINA.dll and I am currently running a search for it - gulp.
The only thing I have installed is McAfee Site Advisor.

Hmmm, it's in Windows\System32 and it's an extension to an application.
mfletch - her a/c and icon are shown in User Accounts but the "change how you log in/out" has been greyed out.

OK, I'll fire it up.

The OS message went something like this (it is translated from French):
"A program recently installed has deactivated the reception screen and the rapid user change facility. To restore these functions de-install the program. The name of the program is not known but to help you identify it: MrvGINA.dll".
I typed the reference into Yahoo search and it took me here:

As I had also installed a Netgear WiFi PCI card I followed the advice to delete the registry entry stated and presto, all back to normal.
All's well that ends well. Thanks VoG™ and mfletch.
