XP installation

I'm planning on replacing my laptop drive, but the Acer laptop in question didnt come with an xp disc, but it does have the XP OEM stocker underneath.

I do have a genuine OEM XP disc from a pc I bought a couple of years ago - would I be able to use this with the key from the Acer when I replace its drive?

You should be able to, but the only problem is OEM!!.

Thanks for the reply, but why would OEM be a problem?

'Thanks for the reply, but why would OEM be a problem?'

Because the oem disk was for the original pc alone, and is not transferable to any other pc (legally that is). This applies even if the previous pc, that the oem xp was on, is no longer in use.

Hope this helps.

Will not be a problem as you have the OEM license number for your machine
