It is irritating to say the least. Not only will it not close down, (I have to shut down the computer by keeping the button depressed for 10 seconds or so) it doesnt open up properly at the first attempt, it most often has to be rebooted to run OK. Anyone have any ideas ?

When you are in Windows...

...Try this.

Start > Run > Copy and Paste:

SFC /SCANNOW

Click ok and have your Windows XP dsic in the drive as you do this. This will sort out any buggered XP files. Tht may be causing the shutdown problem.

I have had the same problem with XP Pro and followed the second link provided by Powerless' 19:53 post above.

Sure enough, I've got Easy CD Creator 5 installed and, when I downloaded the patch from Roxio's site as suggested, my computer turned itself off for the first time since XP was installed! Thanks guys.
