XP Home will not shut down

4 Attempts, download and disk, to load SP2 trashed my computer, therefore I formatted and reloaded XP. I now cannot shut down XP, it just reboots. This happened the first time I ever loaded XP but blowed if I can remember how I fixed it.
I have checked to forum, I don't have any Roxio ware, I've downloaded new audio drivers, SCANNOW gave message of Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ?
Has anyone any ideas please?
PS I won't ever be loading SP2, trojans, worms and viruses are easier to deal with, how about you?

I've loaded SP2 on three putas, no problemo.

I loaded SP2, I had that much trouble I un-installed it did a system restore & dumped the SP2 CD in the bin.

As the title says, it still will not shut dow so for now I have been switching it off part way through reboot, trouble is, now, sometimes when I turn the box back on, it boots into the BIOS?
Magic wand wanted please, 18 pounder should do it.
Toolman.
