hi, i've just done an update from the mcafee site, i only use their firewall,
& after my system restart this msg appeared "unable to locate
c:\windows\system32\mcins" please ensure correctly typed etc.

i'm assuming this is something to do with mcafee?

everything 'seems' to be working ok at the moment...

thanks for any help.

Hi lexxy_703, just did a google search and looked on Microsofts own website for mcins and found nothing. Have you spelt it correctly?

Are you able to do a system restore (you will loose any work done after restore date so bakup stuff you wish to save) to a date before you installed the McAfee update?

Also check out McAfee forum for any mention of the file and problems arrising from it.

Mike

hi Mike

i'm pretty sure i wrote it down correctly, but you never know! it's my 1st error msg on a new pc & it did throw me a bit!!

i'll check over on mcafee forum but i will be able to do a restore if i can't find what it is.

thanks for the help.

lexxy_703, if you shut down properly and re boot does the message still appear?

Hi Pamy

no, thank goodness! when i've started the pc up again now, no message.

i did check on the mcafee site earlier & someone else had posted the same problem, with no replies at that time. hopefully their glitch has disappeared too.

thanks again.
