XP Home or Pro

what exactly is the difference between XP Home and XP Professional, I suppose Pro is a bit more expensive but if the price was OK is there any reason not to have it?

No great advantage in going for Pro unless you are networking a number of machines. SP2 has all it needs in home edition to make home networking simple and effective. Save a few pounds and get something else - eg a quality mouse that will be comfortable!

I agree with Diodorus Siculus. I have XP Pro at work and use XP Home at home. Not much difference to me in everyday use.

Thanks DS and wags, the reason I asked was because Pro is already installed on a base unit I was looking at that was a reasonable price. I don't need a lot of the things on there, it seems to be a matter of overkill.
If changing to XP Home reduces the price I'll go for that.

Thanks chaps, w76
