If this appears twice forgive me but I think I was laogged off before. When XP shuts down I get a full blue screen error message:
Problem has been detected
IRQL_NTO_LESS_OR_EQUAL
then advice about checking hardware and software installations.
On start up I get a message to say:
Windows has recovered from a serious system error and the details are
BCCode:1000000a
BCP1:000000B0
BCP2:00000002
BCP3:00000000
BCP4:804EE24B
OSVer:5_1_2600
SP:2_0
Product:768_1
This is on a Vaio laptop which is used only occasionally and which runs PC Tools Spyware Doctor and Firewall. There is no hardware connected other than a Logitech mouse and ther have been no software installations other than Windows and PC Tools updates both of which I hace uninstalled and re-installed to check. The laptop is connected by wireless to a Belikin router to which my desktop is also connected by ethernet. Everything works OK aprt from getting these messages.

Thanks bretsky. I don't use my camcorder with my laptop now (too slow) so I have uninstalled all the software associated with it. Fingers crossed it seems to have worked - I say "seems" because I thought I had it cracked last week.
As an aside, I now use my camcorder with my Evesham desktop and I bought SONY Vegas Movie Studio because it said it could upload the movie clips direct from the SONY camcorder DVD via USB. I then discovered that it could only do this if I uninstalled the SONY USB driver that came with the SONY camcorder! How can a reputable corporation produce such a shambles? What hope have we ordinary consumers got? Since Premiere Elements can't upload these files at all I have now gone over to Ulead Video Studio 11!
