XP Freezes on Windows Update

  old jim 16:24 29 Jan 2005

I wonder if anyone can help me, every time I click on Windows update, Internet Explore freezes solid and I have to use task manager to shut it down.
I have tried using IE for normal surfing, and it works fine until, I try to go to the Microsoft site.
It is not a big problem, as I can still download and save updates using Firefox, but it is very annoying.
Hoping someone has some ideas.
Regards Jim

Try running the system file checker:

sfc /scannow
