XP file sharing problem

Slightly different to previous posts, I have 2 XP machines, Desktop (ethernet cable) connection to wireless router (Linksys)and wireless Laptop which uses the router for internet access. My problem is Desktop can see laptop shared drive, laptop cannot see desktop shared drive, tho' internet access from both is fine. I set both drives to share and pre the wireless setup both drives could be accessed Ok. My guess is the firewall, but the Router setup only has 'block anonymous LAN request' option, or, since access to the desktop is thru' the router maybe a setting there is the problem, but I've named the laptop MAC addr. as an 'allowed' machine so can't see what else?
The Desktop name can be coaxed to appear on the laptop in 'network connections', but access denied message prevents connection. Anyone any ideas please.

Check that the firewall in the Desktop (not the router) is allowing the network address of the laptop.
