XP and .exe files.

My Brother in Law wants to send me a file .exe but I know XP refuses access to it. Is there a way to change that temporarily?

What e-mail client are you using?

If Outlook Express, Tools/Options, Security tab and take the tick out of the box.

If Outlook click here

Rar or zip it.

Or get him to zip the file first - then you can unzip it when it gets to you. Some ISPs will not transfer .exe files anyway.

It will also reduce the file size, thus reduce the time it takes.

Thanks VoG and leo49.
Much obliged.

Or even just change the file name (particularly the .exe bit - then change it back after you've got it.

Basic programming errors - not enough Beta testing before release.
