XP downloads

I am aware that I need to download the updates for Windows XP but I have a slow internet connection at home and am dreading the phone bill. I am, however, able to use a fast connection at work on a network using Windows 98. Is there a way of downloading the updates to a Zip disk? I've tried accessing the updates catalog on the Microsoft site but cannot get past the first page. Is this because we're using Windows 98 at work?

If you can acceess Windows updates at work you can personalise the updates, as described in the thread, download the updates for XP to a folder and copy these to your Zip drive.

or even a 'similar' problem.

I am on a Pay as you Go with BT and am aware of the time somethings take to download. But usually at the weekend rates we are talking of a penny and a half a minute only so if it takes and hour you are still getting it about a pound.

Thanks for all the advice. I've installed Service Pack 1 - now which of the other dozens of updates is it best to download form Microsoft? Or is it best to wait for Service Pack 2? Any idea when this will come out?

you can wiat if you want until sp2 comes out which i have been told is June/July but i think it would be best just to download most of them anyway.
