my daughter has a desktop pc.it was bought second hand.it came with xp installed but no disks.she wants to do a reinstall.would she have to buy a full version or could she use an oem version.
Has it got the licence sticker on the bottom of the laptop? if it has just use someone else xp disk and your licence.
I think if the computer has a licence sticker you can use any XP disk of the same version as the sticker eg Home, Pro.
there is no sticker on it anymore
I am sure the problem with the sticker can be overcome. You need a piece of software which will reveal the xp key belonging to your pc which is stored in the registry. Perhaps this:click here
Or install Belarc Advisor, then scroll down results page to Software Licenses section Key Number for XPclick here
