Daughter has just got a laptop running windows vista. Dell PC runs XP. Have a Netgear DG834 wireless router and have managed to connect to the net with the laptop but cannot get it to use the main PC's printer (a canon i455). Have tried various advice I've found on the net but nothing works. (probably too complex. Can anybody supply and idiots guide ? Thanks

Have you installed "Vista-compatible" drivers for the printer in the laptop and then run the "Add a Printer" wizard to install it as a "network printer"?

What actually happens when you try to print over the network?

Go into the printer properties ( right click on printer ) and under the sharing tab tick the boxes for " Share this printer " and " Render print jobs on client computers " it will also give you the option to load Vista drivers so when the laptop connect it can draw them over the network instead of searching for them .
