XP defrag

When using the defrag in XP what running processes should be shut down? I looked at the list on my daughter's laptop and there were lots.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

None it does not suffer the same probs as Windows 98/me :o)

It will defrag no mater what is going on (unless there is a problem with the PC) and it will ignore files that are in use or being read/written.

In addition to Andy's comments try Diskeeper or Diskkeeper Lite click here the full version is far better than than the free Lite version

It will defrag no matter what is going on :o)
