XP crashes & reboots with NTL Cable Modem

XP crashes & reboots when NTL cable modem is disconnected, either by me or if the connection is broken some other way. Anyone got a fix for this? Windows 98 didn't crash. Cable modem connects via USB.

When you say it connects via USB, I assume you are talking about the USB network adaptor that NTL sends out with it's packages. If so then I noted when installing this for a friend that the AEI network USB driver is not approved by Microsoft. I don't know if this would cause the crashes you are talking about, but this adaptor certainly caused some instability on my friends computer. I upgraded his connection to Ethernet recently & all is well. Perhaps upgrading to an internal NIC may help you too.

Remember that if using USB connection this places a drain on system resources that depending on the system can cause problems.
