XP clean install IE7 Problem

Have just done an XP SP2 clean install and have downloaded IE7 as before. Problem is now when I connect to the internet IE7 states it cannot display the web page, however if I click on the 'home' button it connects straight to my homepage and browsing thereafter is not affected.

Does anyone heve any suggestions apart from Firefox?

seems to me only when you click your hompage it is then connecting to the internet
ie7 is not auto connecting when it is run
that possibly why you have to click home so it connects to your isp service bit like typing password in on the internet connection box

here somthing we can try open ie7
click connections
is your modem listed in the box
if so
check the always dial my default connection box
set default
apply
ok try it again

have you got adaware , on your system
no i dont want you to scan
just check in the program that your browser is set to stop browser hijacking

open adaware
click the gear icon
type in your browser home page and search engine
u can just repeat your hompage in the search engine part unless u use adiffrent search engine
if you do a quick scan they will always be locked to them pages so no one can tinker with it or highjack it so to speak
worth a try

umbongo(uk),thanks for keeping trying.Done as you have said and scanned with adaware, spybot, and a- squared plus AVG anti-virus.

sorry should have made it clear above that the problem is not resolved

hmm i cant figure this one out

have you tried a diffrent start homepage

I have noticed that the problem only occurs if I am offline and connecting via the speedtouch 330 modem (Broadband 3Mbs). If I am already online and open IE7 it loads the homepage no problem.

you answered your self you can only get a web page if you are online thus your browser needs the below

the settings to have the image always up is in
tools
genral
browsing history
settings
click :never
the page will always be stored unless u run ccleaner witch will wipe all cookie and browsing data
the page would have to be stored for offline use with never enabled viewing ie your online then go to offline mode
using the modem you do you have to sign on so to speak to view internet content
you are not an always on connection until the initial activation phase
because you power down when not using your system you break the connection and then have to redial to get the initial web page stored in the browser cache

Sorry umbongo(uk), tried above. No joy. I'm thinking I might go back to reinstalling XP again.
