Hi all

I have just built a PC which is as follows

ASRock CONROEXFIRE-ESATA2 SKT775 945P
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.86ghz
Corsair 1GB Kit (2X512MB) DDR2 667MHz/PC2-5400 XMS (TWIN2X1024-5400C4) CL4-4-4-12
EZ Cool Alpine G5 Silver Aluminium Case
Inno3D GeForce 7600GT 256MB TV Out DVI Core 560MHz Memory 700MHz PCI-E
Hiper 435W Silver Mesh Body - 120mm Fan ATX2.2 20+4pin
Western Digital WD2500KS Caviar SE 250GB 7200RPM SATAII/300 16MB Cache - OEM

On installing XP its says that there is no HDD even though it shows up in the BIOS. I have tried putting on different jumpers on the MB but still no joy.

I have searched around and someone mentioned on a different site to look on the MB cd and put the sata 2 drivers onto a floppy but the size of the file is 15MB and I only have a 1.44MB floppy disk. I dont have a floppy drive on my new PC and I dont intend to put one in but will if it will resolved my problem.

But Im pretty sure you dont need to install any drivers at first unless your running a raid configuation which i am not.

What else could I do/be doing wrong?

Many thanks.

For sata 2 operation you need to remove the jumper
from the HDD.Also some M/B's have different sata connections that are not intended to boot from (for storage drives). On my Asus PB5 deluxe they are different colours, Red and black.
Hope this helps.

If SATA drivers are not built into the board (sounds like yours aren't) then you DO need the SATA raid drivers for the board.
Copy from the motherbord drivers CD to floppy and install from floppy at the F6 prompt as you run the XP CD (XP will only load the drivers from a floppy).
