XP - Cannot get 'Search' to activate

  VGC 22:22 25 Feb 2004

4 of us using computer. On 2 of these accounts when they try to run a search by clicking on the search icon the system appears to freeze and clicking the mouse has no effect. After a fairly long wait the system 'unfreezes' and the computer will respond to the mouse. The search window does not appear however so no searches can be made on these two accounts. I use ZA as my firewall. I use Avast as anti-virus and Spybot and Spywareblaster for adware etc., but to date nothing has showed up. I also update all of the above almost daily. Can anyone advise me please?. VGC.

if it was me,i would save any files you need and delete the accounts, then re-create after a bootup. The my documents folder will be transfered but would copy anyway with any favourites folder etc.It may save you trouble and time.

You could try a SFC /SCANNOW but sounds as if the 2 accounts have become a little corrupt.Poss, due to individual settings?
