XP cannot find HD durng installation

  scooper 16:27 23 Aug 2007

After a total HD crash I have replaced the HD with an exactly the same model, but when I boot from the XP disk, go thrpogh the licence stuff, the screen that normally shows you the hard drive states UNKNOWN DISK (THERE IS NO DISK IN THE DRIVE) 3 times
If I boot from a floppy the C drive is there and I can delete copy files etc, I can also install Win98 without a problem
Any ideas

Yeh, everything is connected OK, as I said everything works fine in 98 to from DOS, it;s just XP, looking at some other support sites, they seem to be suggesting that I need to load the SATA drivers during the installation, but this also fails
