xls email attachment

I am unable to open emails with xls attachments. I have not got excel but I do have Microsoft Works which has all the the usual office requirements, Spreadsheet, Word etc. Can I do anything to get emails to open?

You can D/L the Excel viewer from click here

You will be able to read the file but not make any changes to it.

Works's spreadsheet prog does not support excel, so as beeuuem points out you can dl the viewer.

I think you would be able to copy/paste from the viewer to works ssheet, buy whether any complex formalae would operate, I don't know.

You could also download the openoffice suite (it's free), from click here, this supports excel to a greater extent, and even supports some macros.

Hope this helps.

The works spreadsheet will open excel files, (certainly up to Excel 2002), but only one sheet at a time...

(But Excel can't open Works spreadsheets!)

If the excel workbook has more than 1 sheet it will ask which sheet you want to open.

I hope that helps...

Failing that use the view as per beeuuem's post.

Good luck,

Many thanks for all your help. I have d/l the viewer as beeuuem advised and all is now well.
