Wrong boot drive letter XP install

  PeterPaul 10:35 21 Oct 2004

I have just made a clean install of Windows XP home edition with SP2

It has installed with drive F: as the boot drive.

I believe this will give problems with software.

How can I change it safely?

have you some partitions set up?

What are the drive letters of your cd-roms etc etc?

right click on my computer and select manage, from the left hand side pane of the box that comes up selct disk management. You'll find that on the right hand side now appears your disks, right click on them and select change drive letter and path. You may have to do a bit of juggling if something else is named as c:

Thanks to all - problem resolved by reinstall.

Computer management does not permit a rename/reassignment of the boot drive, only of other drive letters.

Sorry, I misunderstood the original question, my fault, :-)
