writing video Mpeg files DVD

  Boy Zone 21:32 26 Feb 2003

Hi to you all,
So I have my Adobe video all rendered and timeline all saved in Mpeg format.
I now want to go out and buy my Sony DVD writer.
What else do I need beside the writer, what s/w do I need?
I'm told that the Sony s/w is very basic. I want something that will tell me if the file will fit onto my DVD. Heard that Nero 5 is good, but does this work on all DVD's...?
Also just a thought, the codec I've used is set to my video capture card (Intel IYUU codec), does this make any difference if I want to send a DVD to a relative to play on their DVD home play?
