I have a mate just got a new pc and he has his work invoices on a floppy made in works 95 and he cannot open it on the new pc. It says to format the disk, He has works on the new pc but a newer version is there any way he can open the floppy at all Cheers Zebby
I have seen several references to users of Win XP being told to format floppies and there does seem to be an issue, but I haven't actually seen a solution. The problem may arise as a result of the disk having originally been formatted in Win 95 (per this article click here )
This Microsoft article also appears to relate to the problem - click here;EN-US;140060
As workaround, can someone with Win 98 put the files from the floppy on to a CD-R so that he can try opening them from that?
The problem at the moment is not Works being unable to open the older files, but XP not reading the floppy.
