Word files to open on a computer with only Works

  Migwell 00:43 22 Feb 2007

A friend has some files to work on at home given to him from work, and sent on floppy. They were written in MS Word and he only has MS Works on his computer. The files will not open on his computer, is there any way to open these files with works, work on them, save them and then send them back on floppy disk?

In OpenOffice Writer you need to alter the default save formats to "Windows 2000/XP" in Tools>Options>Save I think! Use the drop down boxes for Text Document and choose the above type from the drop down box to the right. Do the same for Spreadsheets but be careful not to choose the Template option rather than .xls
