Word Double Spacing

  Input Overload 17:17 27 Oct 2009

I'm quite new to Office 2007 & need to print out an urgent letter. For some reason Word has now started putting double spaces instead of single when moving to the next line. can anyone help, I have looked & can't find the option.

with older versions of word it was in the format paragraph settings.

I've been in there & set it to single space to no avail.

again with an older version of word in this situation I would search for normal.dot and rename it normal.old then start word again and it will put a new normal.dot in place and this might sort the problem. Sorry never used word 2007 so not sure about it.

Select the Page Layout tab, click the little arrow at the bottom of the Paragraph group and change the line spacing to Single.

In the short term, if you can't fix it and you want to print the letter out with single spacing, instead of using Enter to begin a new para, use Shift+Enter to insert carriage return+linefeeds.

If you do this twice for each para break it should achieve the desired effect.

Many Thanks, sorted.

It looks like normal.dot had got corrupted so I did a new one & at the same time set it with my preferred font & size. Thanks again.
