Word doc appears "shaded" on desktop

I have a few Word docs that I currently use, stored on my desktop. I just notice that one Im using at the moment suddenly appears grayed or shaded, in comparison to the others. It still opens, and I can edit it etc but Im just wondering what this means.
Is Word 2007, and its just lyrics of a song.

It sounds as though you have accidentally added a grey background colour - this shows you how to select a colour including white which is I guess what you want

When you say its "grayed or shaded" do you mean the icon on the desktop?

If you right click the file - go to properties - general tab and look at attributes

there should be an box next to hidden - does this have a tick in?

Untick it and it will no longer be grayed out.

If you mean the icon on the desktop is shaded - that is normal if you have selected it by left clicking once on it.
You can test this by then left clicking once on a spare part of desktop, the icon previously shaded will then return to it's usual colour (indicating that it is no longer selected).
