Word 98

  Derek 15:48 27 Aug 2007

I use Win XP Pro together with latest (very bells+whistles) Word and I long for my very simple Word 98.
I have my original Win 98 disk which has Word on it (Hopefully) and I would like to take it off and use again but my Win XP won't allow me to do such things.
Is there a work around ?

Kindest regards Dere Miles.

Word is not on the Windows 98 disk but is part of Office 2xxx. If you have an Office disk you can install that and run it from there. If no disk then why not try Open Office click here which is quite similar to Word.

PS It's the Writer program which is the equivalent to Word

If it`s simplicity you need stick with WordPad (Start>All Programs>Wordpad) Word goes back before 2000 but previous versions don`t work too well with XP - The best compatibility with XP is the Office 97 version.

OpenOffice is very versatile and will allow conversions and save as file types across the range - gets my vote too!

If you require a simple, straightforward word processor to use in Windows then have a look at Jarte:

Just out of interest Derek, which option did you take?
