How do I get the page numbers to start from the second page of my document and not the first page. I tried unticking the box'show number on first page' but doesn't work as the second page is not numbered as number 1 in my documents.

Start word help and search for 'Specify how to start or restart page numbering' then select the start page number result and follow instructions. Believe you have to split the document into sections by these instructions.

You can't do it...unless you do it manually by inserting '1' as a footer on your second page and so on and so on...

Insert a Section break (next page) in Page 1.

On Page 2, View/Header and Footer, Switch to footer, click the toolbar button to so that the footer is not linked to that of the first page.

From the Menu, Insert/Page Number, Click the format button and change to the number that you want to start at.

Have you tried VoG™'s suggestion?
