My son has pressed either 'power' or 'sleep' on his computer key board, it closed down but will not wake up again. Monitor on amber, no sign of life elsewhere. Would appreciate advice.
If the computer works after a reboot go into Control Panel, Power management and make sure that Hard Drive it set to NEVER power down
He says it won't reboot
Disconnect everything - peripherals, power cables etc and then connect only keyboard, mouse, monitor and power and see if it wil boot up.
I know this sounds daft but, it is switched on at the power supply isn't it?
already tried disconnecting everything and the power is on
any more advice?
From full power off, what happens when you switch on? Do the disks spin up, CD lights flash, any output on screen etc. Can you detail it please as won't boot up is too vague - sorry.
The power may be on at the wall, but what about the power switch on the back of the PC, on the Power supply? Has this accidently been turned off?
Nope. It doesnt switch on at all. When i press the power button nothing happens. Only light is the one on the monitor that is amber when that is on without the computer and the speakers.
No. The power supply switch at the back of the computer is on aswell.
