wont boot

hi all,
when i turn on my pc i can get passed the bios stage but after that the screen goes black, i can move the mouse/curser. It also wont boot from windows 7 cd. Would this be a hdd problem

Have you tried booting in safe mode.

yes but it just does the same it will get to point of saying loading windows, let me choose like safe mode and then the black screen

Sorry m4tt79 can't think of anything else no doubt someone will give you the proper information.
Maybe boot start up has been changed or bad set of ram but those are only wild guess's.

Is CD set as first boot device in BIOS?

yeah i changed that over

Try setting CD as ONLY boot device disable all others for now.

Boot from the CD and do a Startup repair

when the repair is completed go back to BIOS and set CD as first boot HDD as second then reboot without the CD in the drive.
