wmp won't play mp3

  elbecko 14:31 12 Sep 2009

my wmp will not play mp3 files.
i've gone to library/more options and the mp3 file type is ticked.

i get this message:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

any help please?

Seventh one down.

Download it, install it and WMP will play just about anything.

First go to WMP's Tools>Options>File Type tabs and ensure that all File Types are Enabled.

Then go to:

and download the K-Lite Codecs Pack.

When you Install it, select Number 8 from the drop down menu (Lots of Stuff without Windows Media Player Classic); during the installation uncheck any boxes for various toolbar add-ons etc.
