WMP & real player

It just wont play any of my DVDs....bought or home burned.
I've checked the DVDs on my other computer and they PLAY fine.
It plays music fine on this new PC but doesn't want to play DVDs. A message saying resolution and colour may be too high which I have altered but to no avail. I've updated to wmp11...still showing the same message. The DVDS play on Nero player but appear blurred. Could it be my video/graphics card? If so how do I check its working fine....It's a newish PC with high spec...intel 2Quad, Q6600 @240, XPERT VISION vga..graphicS by NVIDIA...what ever that means?

thanks inadvance.
