One of my son's friend give him a computer before he left for Australia. As he already has a latest computer so he gave it to me. It's working beautifully but each time it boots up this window comes up, Windows not Genuine or something to that effect. It's quite annoying each time it comes up.
It has XP Pro on it and the drive is partitioned. One of the big online computer stores was selling XP Pro - OEM so I bought a copy to install into this computer.
Now if I install the new XP Pro will it format the whole hard drive including the Partition.
Read the instructions. Not straight forward. I have not opened the brown box in which the new purchase of XP Pro is in. It has a Label with a lot of key bars and numbers but I can't see the Installation Key number here. Will it be on the CD inside.
Can I Format the 'C' partition only on this drive then install the OEM XP Pro into 'C'.
I have XP Pro on my own computer. I have never installed an Operating System before as they come preinstalled.
woodchip - I'll open up the Box and have a look for the Sticker. Thanks
lotvic - "You will need the motherboard system drivers as well if you do a fresh install" - Ok, I'll have to open up the Case and search what motherboard it is. Then search the website, to obtain the the Motherboard Drivers.
Oh, I thought that the Operating System did that for you.
